    Program Content and Takeaways

    Synopsis

    Our September meeting is all helping you solve the HR problems that keep you up at night.

    An HR Slam is a group exercise in synergistic decision making. Synergy means that people working together get more done than people working alone. This is an opportunity for you to learn from one another to develop practical solutions to your most pressing HR priorities in 2024 and 2025 too.

    You’ll be assigned to one of five teams tasked with discussing an urgent HR problem, like those listed below…

    You’ll be allotted 20 minutes to explore the topic, sharing your collective experiences, insights and suggestions.  Your team will be provided a flip chart paper and magic markers to record your recommendations and 5 minutes to present your conclusions to the group.

    Actions

    The goal of the Slam is to help you look ahead to 2025, share perceptions and best practices about HR pitfalls and opportunities, and build support for one another as HR thought leaders.

    From a hat, your team will draw one of these problems that HR leaders frequently face...

    • Strategic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Does DEI really matter and what’s the ROI?
    • Want a seat at the table? How can you earn respect for your contributions and become a strategic HR business partner, a persuasive influencer and valued advisor?
    • Strategic Talent Acquisition: winning the battle for talent in a cutthroat hiring environment
    • Rewards: It’s not just money. Especially in these days of tight budgets. Recognition matters too. What other ways can you show ‘em the love?
    • Workforce planning: what skills does the organization need to flourish and grow? What are the implications of hiring outside talent vs. developing current staff members? How can HR get involved in this critical function?
    • Why culture matters: HR’s role in shaping workplace culture. How to build a strong culture in a remote and hybrid world.
    • Change happens! HR’s role in explaining, supporting and championing change. Keeping people informed, inspired and engaged in VUCA times. (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous}
    • Workplace wellness: dealing effectively with mental health challenges in turbulent times
    • Embracing people analytics for HR: AI tools that automate urgent, important HR processes. How are you applying AI in your company and what are the results?
    • Onboarding the hybrid workforce. How can HR make newly hired employees feel welcome and connected to the organization?
